Since my last blog post about creating a clear mission to bring colour and joy to homes through the magic of glass, Sarah and I have been thinking of how we can do more of this. This week we have been thinking about how to bring more colour through our social media channels.
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with social media. It is an essential part of being able to communicate and share our business with out customers but I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling like I don’t always have something interesting enough to say. And of course in the back of your mind there are all the things you learn about algorithms and ‘getting seen’ – posting regularly, posting consistently, using hashtags etc etc. It is a minefield! I’ve also seen how social media can be an incredibly powerful tool in creating communities and support networks and I think I’d like to play a bigger part in that.
Colour of the month – kicking off with Red
Thinking about bringing colour and joy through our channels gave me an idea. One of our favourite things about glass is that it can be made in every colour of the rainbow – and beyond! So starting next week we will be choosing a ‘colour of the month’ and, taking the rainbow as our inspiration, we will kick off with red. We’ll be sharing with you some of the different shades of red, what they represent and how we can use red in our glass making. We’ll also share some red products from some of our other favourite makers. So you will see us posting more on our social media over the coming months because we’ve got something fun to share and we hope you find it interesting.
This week lockdown restrictions have lifted in lots of ways and it feels like the weather has decided to take it out on us. The last few days have been damp and grey and as we’re allowed to venture out more it makes you want to hunker down indoors for a bit longer! Our new colour project is definitely what I need to inject a bit of brightness into our days.
We have also been looking at launching a social media giveaway which would be a first for Salvia Glass. Keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks as it would be great to see as many people as possible taking part.
Embracing Instagram!
So we are going to embrace Instagram, perfect Pinterest and face Facebook and make sure we are using these as a force for good to get to know as many of you as possible. I’ve even opened a Twitter account but that’s a whole new world…
If you like the blog and would like to keep in touch with what is going on with our business then sign up for our emails below. We promise not to send you loads of emails – we’d struggle to keep up with writing them! We would love to let you know when we have new product lines, where you can and say hello to us at fairs and any other big news we have. Thanks!
