‘Family’ framed glass tile picture

Description

A box framed picture which features handmade fused glass tiles in a bright blue, which spell out the word ‘Family’. Three smaller glass tiles sits between the letters – one with a black painted heart on a green background, and two with yellow flecks.

Including the frame the picture is 22.5 x 22.5cm (8″ x 8″).

The glass tiles are a total of 6mm thick which gives a great depth to the glass and allows it to catch the light differently throughout the day.

Every picture is individually handmade. The glass tiles are cut and kiln fired fused glass handmade by us. The process involves taking layers of glass and combining with glass frits (granules or powders) which melt and combine when fired. This picture features a ‘true blue’ and ‘light cyan’ powders behind the letters and ‘yellow’ and ‘pea pod green’ behind the other tiles.

The word ‘Family’ is hand painted onto the top of the tiles in a brush lettering style and a heart motif is hand painted onto the smaller tile in black with a special glass paint and fired in the kiln.

The colours combine and spread differently with the heat from the kiln which makes each piece of glass and therefore each picture unique. We make all pictures to order so they may vary slightly from the images shown but they will always be of equal quality.

The plaque and tile are fixed onto high quality natural white paper (200gsm).  The frame is a deep box with a stand for shelves or mantles and is glass fronted to keep the picture itself dust free. If you prefer, the glass front is easily removed to leave an open fronted box frame showing the textures more clearly. (N.B. the picture is photographed without the glass front to minimise reflections)
